Mission Statement

Team Goals:

  1. Be dedicated. We plan to do the workouts Coach Zach plans for us everyday, riding together as a team three days a week. Because we all have very different and very busy schedules, it is up to us as individuals to put 100% into the workouts we do on our own.
  2. Stay healthy. It is imperative that we stay healthy. Compromising our health, both mental and physical, is not worth doing well in a race. We want to do the best we can in the race, but we will not sacrifice our health.
  3. Balance. We plan to learn how to balance schoolwork, jobs, and riding. This is not an easy task, and we must take it one day at a time. We are student athletes, meaning schoolwork comes first, but cycling is a close second.
  4. Stay focused. We know that staying focused on riding consists of more than just getting in the hours and workouts. We have to stay on top of our schoolwork, get plenty of sleep (which relates back to staying healthy), eat healthy, and keep ourselves organized so that we can tend to our numerous activities and obligations.
  5. Build a strong foundation for future Collins Cycling riders. This is one of our most important aspects. The veteran riders do not want to see this team dissipate when we graduate. We took extra care in recruiting younger members this year, and we will need to continue to do that in the future. We are also learning how to properly fund our team, and each year we will do that more efficiently. We want the Collins Cycling program to be competitive and to live on past our time here.

We are excited to embark on our third year of Little 500 racing. We are honored to be a part of such a great Indiana University tradition. We want the Little 500 legacy to live on within Collins Living-Learning Center past our time here at IU. We will keep our minds and bodies healthy so that on April 25 we are prepared to race the best race we can.
